Children with disabilities in the DR Congo face overwhelming barriers. Most families cannot afford the orthopedic equipment their children need to walk, let alone the school fees required for an education. Without mobility or access to school, these children are often left at home, isolated, and misjudged.

In partnership with a local nonprofit led by former beneficiaries, STANDPROUD provides school fees, books, and uniforms so disabled children can attend primary school with dignity. They also craft simple, durable orthopedic leg braces and teach each child how to use them—restoring mobility, confidence, and independence.
