Mending Kids provides free lifesaving surgical care to sick children worldwide by deploying volunteer medical teams and supporting communities to become medically self-sustaining. In the United States, Mending Kids also helps children with special needs access critical dental and surgical care that would otherwise remain out of reach.

For some families, the barrier to survival is not only the surgery itself, but simply reaching it. Shalom’s father spent three months saving enough money for the $10 bus ride that would bring his son to free lifesaving heart surgery. Joel’s aunt hitchhiked across Tanzania, carrying her orphaned nephew to reach our surgical team because, without treatment, he was dying.
